Malaysia Airlines Flight MH 370 Conspiracy Theories: Missing Plane Is a CIA Cover-Up?
In a new twist to the mystery over the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH 370, Mahathir Mohamad, a former Malaysian Prime Minister, has claimed authorities, the media, as well as U.S. intelligence agency, the CIA, have created a smoke-screen about what actually happened to the ill-fated Boeing 777, which vanished with 239 people on board on March 8.
Accusing the CIA, Boeing and the media of preventing the investigation from being exposed, Mohamad regretted that the hapless Malaysian government has been bearing the burden of the mystery that launched a massive, costly and yet fruitless international search for the aircraft.
Mohamad wrote in his blog, "What goes up must come down," adding, "Airplanes can go up and stay up for long periods of time. But even they must come down eventually. They can land safely or they may crash. But airplanes don't just disappear. Certainly not these days with all the powerful communication systems, radio and satellite tracking and filmless cameras which operate almost indefinitely and possess huge storage capacities."
He also wrote, "Clearly Boeing and certain agencies have the capacity to take over 'uninterruptible control' of commercial airliners of which MH370 B777 is one."
Mohamad went on to say, "Someone is hiding something," and added, "It is not fair that... Malaysia should take the blame. For some reason the media will not print anything that involves Boeing or the CIA."
According to the former Prime Minister, "the 'uninterruptible' autopilot would be activated - either by pilot, by on board sensors, or even remotely by radio or satellite links by government agencies like the Central Intelligence Agency, if terrorists attempt to gain control of the flight deck."
However, thus far there is no evidence to support Mohamad's theory, one of several conspiracy theories that have been making the rounds since the Boeing disappeared. Although authorities have continually said that they are keeping their mind open to all possible scenarios, they have clearly believed the most likely scenario is that the plane crashed somewhere in the Indian Ocean and that there are no survivors.
