‘Mafia III’ News: 2K Games Confirms Title, Releases First Trailer at Gamescom Next Week [VIDEO]
Video game developer 2K Games has confirmed that it is currently working on the highly anticipated 'Mafia III.' The developer also stated that the game's first trailer will be released next week, but did not confirm whether it will comprise any gameplay.
According to a report in IB Times, 2K Games has also not revealed the platforms for which the upcoming action-adventure video game will be available or its possible release date. However, speculations are rife that 'Mafia III' may come sometime in 2016.
The report further states that recently 2K Games posted a teaser image poster of 'Mafia III' on the developer's official Twitter account alongside the announcement. The tweet includes a link to a 'Mafia' YouTube channel, but currently it has no videos on 'Mafia III.' However, that should change when 2K Games released the title at Gamescom next week.
The first 'Mafia' game for the PC impressed players with its interesting storytelling that reminded one of the 'The Godfather' movies. The game included missions undertaken against rival Mafiosi and see if the other members in the protagonist's organization were trust worthy. Usually, such missions took a toll on the protagonist like Vito Scaletta in "Mafia II," who was just trying to settle his father's debts, but ended up becoming much more involved while the game progressed.
In fact, often players have compared the 'Mafia' series to Rockstar Games' 'Grand Theft Auto' franchise. However, the game differentiated itself by means of its 1920s setting and came with a more serious story. The comparisons are mainly owing to the fact that both 'Mafia' and 'GTA' enabled players to roam around the game world and also shoot whoever they wanted.
GameSpot reports that originally 'Mafia III' was supposed to be a launch game for the PS4 and Xbox One, but it allegedly suffered production problems - and, therefore, the delay in launching it.
The first ever trailer of 'Mafia III' will be revealed in Gamescom at 5 a.m. PDT/ 8 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
