EA Sports has announced Madden 15 as the latest addition the popular NFL video game franchise. The title is set to release on next-gen consoles, the PS4 and the Xbox One, on August 26.

While the game is scheduled to released on August 26, that only pertains to the United States. The game will be released three days later, August 29, in Europe, and will be also be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

During a press conference organized to announce the game's release earlier this year, EA assured that the upcoming game would have the "most immersive gameplay control in the history of the franchise," together with a teaser, which featured Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly - the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

When the teaser was unveiled some months back, the developer did not make any announcement as to who will be on the cover of the game.

However, earlier this week, a poll on who would make it onto the cover was conducted and Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Seattle Seahawks corner Richard Sherman emerged as the finalist, earning 9.6 million votes from fans.

Following the tally of total votes, Richard Sherman emerged the winner and it seemed that this year the game will focus on a "defensive theme." The Superbowl champion and Seahawks standout will be the face of Madden NFL 15.

EA Sports vice-president (Global Marketing) Anthony Stevenson said, "Richard Sherman is a fantastic cover athlete selection by the fans," adding, "Defense is a big focus for Madden NFL 15, and Sherman is one of the brightest defensive stars in the NFL. He shares the same energy and passion for the game as our 'legion' of Madden fans."
