New Dell XPS 13 Specs, Features, Price - Upgraded Laptop Better than MacBook Pro?
While Dell unveiled a powerful line of laptops during the 2015 Consumer Electronics Showcase, the Dell XPS 13 is the most impressive of all, to the point where it is considered better than MacBook Pro by techies.
The upgraded Dell laptop is a 13-inch device with an outstanding 3200x1800 screen resolution. It also has the slimmest bezels in the laptop market today. It offers a cheaper version that has a, still competitive, 1920x1080 screen display.
Because of the thinner bezels, it is smaller and thinner than the MacBook Air even though their sizes are almost the same.
The higher screen resolution also offered a high contrast color differences which is ideal for both work and gaming purposes. Aside from this feature, it also boasts of a 15-hour browsing battery life whereas the MacBook only has 12 hours battery life.
Dell was not at all direct when it comes to saying they are in direct competition with Apple's Macs, but they hinted that they are going after the tech company in a customer testimonial.
In the Dell XPS 13 presentation, they showed Scott Stedman, founder of Northside Media Group, praising the device. "I recently switched from a MacBook Pro to Dell XPS 13," said Stedman.
Lisa Eadicicco from Business Insider also tried out the device during the CES reveal and said the keyboard featured on the new Dell was comfortable, but she prefers MacBook Air in this aspect because the aluminum build on Apple "provides the most efficient and comfortable typing experience," but Dell's keyboard is "still fairly good."
On that note, the new Dell XPS 13 starts at $799 and goes up to $899, depending on the selected features.
Aside from Dell XPS 13, they also introduced other Dell creations. Here is the list of their products and prices.
- A big brother to the XPS 13, the XPS 15, with a 4K Ultra HD display, slated for U.S. availability "soon" for $2,350.
- Two Alienware gaming systems, both available immediately - an Alienware 15 for $1,200 and an Alienware 17 for $1,500.
