MacBook Pro 2014 Release Date Rumors and Specs: October 2014 Launch With Touch Screen & Longer Battery Life
Apple is keeping quiet about the release date of MacBook Pro 2014 giving rise to loads of speculation on the Internet. Many believe that details regarding the latest laptop may be unveiled at a dedicated event later this year, suggesting a holiday season release for the Apple product.
Usually, it has been a practice with the Cupertino-headquartered titan to unveil its MacBooks sometime during October, hence, it is being speculated by some that the new version of the laptop may have an October release date, provided the company does not have to contend with any major production problem. Nevertheless the precise launch date of the Macbook will largely be subject to the availability of next generation processors from Intel.
There have been reports that Intel has been facing troubles manufacturing the Broadwell chips - its fifth generation core processor - as the company shrunk the processor's the size from 22nm to 14nm.
Earlier Intel CEO Brian Krzanich issued a statement to Reuters at the Maker Faire in San Mateo, California, saying that Broadwell devices will be ready just in time for the Christmas holidays. However, he refused to provide any further details regarding the specific date.
Talking about the features of the MacBook Pro 2014, it is rumored that the upcoming laptop will be available in black - a distinct change from the line's standard silver finish. In addition, some reports said that the MacBook Pro 2014 will be offered in a variety of sizes - a 17-inch MacBook and an easy-to-carry version at 12 inches.
While Apple has refrained from incorporating touch screens on its laptops so far, tech experts are of the view that the MacBook Pro 2014 may possibly be the first in the company's existing line-up that will integrate this feature.
It is also expected that the MacBook Pro 2014 will have a longer battery life, on account of Broadwell. At present, the 13-inch MacBook Pro offers nine hours of battery life, but it is rumored that the latest version is likely to offer at least 15 hours.
