MacBook Air 2014 Release Date, Price, Specs, Features: New Apple Laptop $100 Price Cut; 12-inch MacBook Retina Rumors Revealed
Apple enthusiasts are sure to be thrilled with the latest addition of new Mac laptops. The MacBook Air 2014 has arrived $100 cheaper than the standard retail price with features such as longer battery life and faster processors.
The latest 11-inch MacBook Air is sold at $899 while the 13-inch MacBook is priced at $999. The price drop is one of Apple's strategies to make Mac products more available to more people.
"Macs have never been more popular. And, today we've boosted the performance and lowered the price of MacBook Air so even more people can experience the perfect everyday notebook," said Senior Vice President for Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller.
With the MacBook 2014, users have the option between Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. The 13-inch MacBook Air is rated with a battery span up to 12 hours, while the smaller 11-inch version has 9 hours power life. Both versions come with 2.7GHz Turbo Speed, 4GB RAM, and 128GB of storage. Those who want an upgrade to 256GB of flash storage will have to pay an additional $100.
Rumors circulating since February 2013 say that Apple might release a 12-inch Retina MacBook Air that will match the resolution of the latest iPad. The Cupertino-based company has not confirmed the idea. But sources speculate that if the plan will push through, Apple may release it towards the last quarter of the year since all other updates are already incorporated in the latest MacBook models.
