Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin is not dead but a victim of hoax death news that is circulating on Facebook.

The 33-year-old actor was reported as deceased on April 20 with no further details on the event, and the news quickly spread like wildfire on the Internet. However, a representative for the actor clarified the incident over the Internet confirming that Culkin is alive and well, and still an active vocalist of his band Pizza Underground.

"At about 11 a.m. ET on Sunday (April 20, 2014), our beloved actor Macaulay Culkin passed away. Macaulay Culkin was born on August 26, 1980 in New York. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page," the anonymous Facebook post said.

Fans were quick to believe the viral news because of the actor's much publicized drug addiction in 2012. "He's been hooked for a year and a half, and his drug of choice is either heroin or oxycodone," the National Enquirer quoted a source as saying. "Mac is surrounding himself with junkies and lowlifes. It's a real tragedy."

Apparently, substance abuse was not the only predicament that Culkin went through. In his interview with the New York Magazine in 2000, he admitted that he suffered from serious physical and psychological exhaustion from work. He added that he has a dominating father that would not let him take a break.

"I just remember the exact point when I was growing a little more tired -- during The Good Son. I had already done one or two things that year. And I just said to Kit, 'Listen, I'm really getting tired and I'm not at school as much as I'd like to be; I really need some time off.' He said, 'Yeah, sure,' and the next thing I knew I was on the next set doing the next thing, and it just kind of clicked in my brain: Okay. There's basically nothing I can do to make this stop," the actor told the Magazine.

Culkin rose to fame in his major stint at Home Alone 1 and 2, and he dated Mila Kunis from 2002 to 2010. He now belongs to a long list of death hoax victims together with Britney Spears, Will Smith, Morgan Freeman, and Kanye West among others.
