The Los Angeles Lakers will clash with the Phoenix Suns on October 29 at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Los Angeles will play their first game on the road on Wednesday night, after Jeremy Lin made his Lakers debut versus the Rockets on Opening Night (at the Staples Center).

Newest Lakers coach Byron Scott revealed his thoughts regarding critics' perceptions of his team following Los Angeles' disastrous (27-55) record this past season.

"I love the fact that pretty much everyone has written us off," said Scott to reporters.

"That's obviously fuel to the fire. I'm going to use that to talk to our players about how people are viewing us as a basketball team. I love the fact that everybody is doubting us."

Kobe Bryant talked about how this year's squad will be more defensively-oriented, as compared to last season's offense-minded team that was piloted by former Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni.

"We've got to really tighten up defensively, which is a different style than we're used to playing," Bryant said, "But it's a fun style. You've just got to be more aggressive, get down in the passing lanes and take more chances."

Meanwhile, the Suns will looks to defend their home court in their season opener versus the Lakers when the two Western franchises duel in the "Grand Canyon State."

Phoenix power forward Markieff Morris hopes to improve from last year's performance, after nearly totaling 14 points and 6 rebounds per game for the Suns.

"I'm more confident in my post game," said Morris to reporters.

"I think I had a lot of success last year from the post. I think I'll be shooting more 3s this year just to give the guards more driving space in the starting unit. But when I do get the ball in the post, I'm going to get fouled or score the majority of times."
