The Los Angeles Lakers are returning home for a game versus the slumping New Orleans Pelicans tonight as they attempt to win their third straight win in a row.

The Lakers have not had many highlights this season, on the other hand, they defeated the Portland Trail Blazers by the final score of 107-106 last night. Wesley Johnson's basket off an alley-oop inbounds pass from Kent Bazemore with 6.9 seconds left in the game put Los Angeles ahead for good after it blew an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter.

"To pull out the win like we did and fight the whole game, it was a good one," said Johnson to reporters last night.

Pau Gasol scored 22 points to lead the Lakers and has totaled 20 points in back-to-back games for the first time since returning from a strained right groin on Feb. 21. After scoring 13 points in a 118-98 defeat to the Indiana Pacers last Tuesday, Gasol stated his frustration with what he considered the squad's selfish play and Head Coach Mike D'Antoni's use of a smaller lineup.

New Orleans is scoring at least 92.4 points in its last eight games which is 7.2 less than in its previous 52 games. The Pelicans were outrebounded 47-30 in yesterday's 96-89 defeat to the Sacramento Kings.

Tyreke Evans tried to aid New Orleans by scoring 14 of his season-high 27 points in the fourth quarter. In addition, he also finished two assists shy of a third career triple-double and had 10 rebounds in the Pelicans' sixth straight road loss, their longest losing streak away from home this season.
