Lolo Jones Joins USA Bobsled Team for 2014 Winter Olympics

Two-time summer Olympian Lolo Jones has become one of the rare athletes who gets to compete in both the Summer and Winter Games when she was added to the U.S. bobsled team on Sunday.

The always outspoken Jones revealed to the public in 2012 that she is a virgin due to her Christian faith.

Jones' diligence eventually paid off since she received a spot on the U.S. Olympic team, but it turns out that hard work did not come with a hefty salary.

Summer 2013, Jones sent a video on Vine, where she showed her pay of $741.84 from her season with the USA Bobsled and Skeleton Federation.

"Seven months with bobsled season, the whole season. That's it?," said Lolo in the Vine video adding jokingly into the phone. "I'm going to be a little late on my rent."

After receiving criticism, Jones boldly expressed her feelings.

"The bottom line is that all Olympic athletes dedicate their lives to their sports and do not all receive lucrative paychecks like athletes in mainstream professional sports," said Jones in an announcement after detractors stated she made more money than other competitors. "So hopefully, this will make people appreciate just how hard Olympians work, often just for the love of the sport."

Despite her Olympic success, Jones has received criticism because the track star athlete has not won any medals for her performances at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Olympics in London. Nevertheless, that has not stopped her from becoming one of Team USA's major stars.

"When I checked u couldn't even make an Olympic team at ALL," tweeted Jones to one of her detractors.

Jones and three time Olympian Lauryn Williams look to add more medals for Team USA's bobsledding squad as the 2014 Winter Olympics begins on February 7 in Sochi, Russia.
