Liverpool Transfer News: Benfica Winger Lazar Markovic £20 Million Deal? Reds Bid for Marco Reus

Liverpool F.C. is all set to sign S.L. Benfica winger Lazar Markovic, who is now reported to be undergoing a medical examination prior to signing a £20 million ($34,157,700) transfer deal.

Markovic will now join Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, as well as Emre Can, who have all signed for Liverpool, since the close of the 2013/14 season.

Sky Sports reports that the 20-year-old Serbian footballer has, in the meantime, conveyed a message to Benfica fans saying, "Thank you for everything and goodbye."

Confirming this report, Vinny O'Conner, Sky Sports reporter, disclosed on Monday, "Lazar Markovic is all set to become Liverpool's fourth summer signing," adding, "He has just left Liverpool's training ground in a club car but he is expected back later to complete the formalities of the medical."

O'Conner further states, "It is a deal which could drag into tomorrow but the club are hoping to announce today that he is a Liverpool player."

Markovic is a versatile footballer, who can play as a winger as well as a conventional striker. He has already represented his country in 12 international outings.

Starting his career with Partizan Belgrade, Markovic helped Benfica to win the Portuguese League in the last season. He is said to have requested the Liverpool management for the No. 50 jersey.

While Liverpool have already released their previous season's top scorer Luiz Suarz, who will be playing for Barcelona next season, another report says that the Reds have been associated with a move to get the German star footballer Marco Reus.

It is rumored that Liverpool are preparing a £45million ($76,854,825) bid for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus. In addition, they are also looking into Holland star Bruno Martins Indi.
