Liverpool 2015 News: Liverpool Hails James Milner’s Fantastic Signing
Recently, Liverpool signed Manchester City midfielder James Milner for a deal worth 110,000 pounds a week. And a couple of notable people have already hailed the signing as a fantastic one.
Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson believes that not only is Milner a perfect fit for the team, but that he also provides experience to the Liverpool side, and will potentially attract other players' move to Anfield.
"Milner is the type of player we need, someone with experience, which is lacking in our squad now the likes of Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson have departed. Liverpool need to redress that balance," Lawrenson wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.
"Milner's signing will also attract other players to join. They'll see him choose Liverpool above staying at City, and take that as a sign there must be positive vibes coming from Anfield. It's still a place to be."
Milner will move on a free transfer should he pass his medical with the team. He rejected a 165,000-pound-a-week offer to stay at Man City saying he needed a fresh move for his career.
Jordan Henderson, another midfielder for Liverpool, is ecstatic about the signing.
"I've spoke to Milly, and it's a fantastic signing," he said of his England teammate. "His attitude on and off the field is first class. You know you'll get energy from him. He's a quality player.
Adding, "I watched a lot of City players last year and he contributes a lot with assists and goals. He's got a lot of ability. And he does a lot of the dirty work as well. For me, it's a fantastic signing and I look forward to playing with him next season."
Milner played 44 games this season, with 27 starts for Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini. The 29-year-old began his career with Leeds United, and after stops at Newcastle and Aston Villa, moved to Manchester City in 2010.
