LG G2 vs Nexus 5 Comparison: Review of Specs, Features, Price - Which Device is Better?

Even though LG is the manufacturer of both the G2 and Nexus 5, there's major differences between the two. A comparison between the two devices should help consumers who are on the fence about buying one of the smartphones.

G2 and Nexus 5 are both narrow phones measured at 5 inches. The back sides of the devices are different as well. LG G2 has a glossy, plastic cover with the camera at the center while Google Nexus 5 has a matte finish with the camera at the top left part.

The power switch and volume control of LG G2 is located just below the camera. This may cause the user to accidentally click the controls while flipping the phone or taking a picture. For the Nexus 5, the power/screen lock is located at the right edge.

For the weight, the Nexus 5 is lighter with 130 grams compared to the G2 with 143 grams. Both devices are just 9 millimeters in depth. If a buyer desires a pocket friendly smart phone, Nexus 5 is a better option.

A notification LED at the front, which signals in different colors depending on the application, is a common feature of the two devices.

When it comes to the screen display, the LG G2 has 5.2 inches with 423 ppi pixel density. The Nexus 5 has 4.95 inches with 445 ppi. The G2 screen is larger, but the Nexus 5 display is sharper.

Although both gadgets have excellent displays, previous comments about them say that the Nexus 5 screen may seem washed out at times. The G2 has a bright, rich and vivid screen that is better than the Nexus 5.

For the specs, the two models have Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, running at the same 2.3GHz speed. Buyers may choose either a 16GB or 32GB model when it comes to built-in storage. Both have 2GB RAM and NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. An advantage of the G2 is an IR blaster, which can be paired with an application to serve as a remote control for any device.

Battery life for G2 is 3,000mAh while Nexus 5 has 2,300mAh. For longevity, the G2 wins since it can last 19 hours before it needs recharging. G2 has been recommended as a device with great battery life.

For music lovers out there, the Nexus 5 can compete with other phones when it comes to playing tunes. However, the G2 boasts a 4-bit/192kHz Hi-Res Audio files that can play high quality music.

On that note, the LG G2 32GB is available at Amazon for $359.99 while the Google Nexus 5 32 GB is at $599.99.
