LG G Edge Variant News: New Trademark Reveals LG Device Names Resembling Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

It seems that the curved-screen smartphone trend, which was pioneered by Samsung with the launch of its Galaxy S6 Edge, has influenced other OEMs too. For instance, recently a new trademark revealed an LG G Edge Variant - the name bearing resemblance to its rival Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge.

According to IB Times, South Korean tech giant LG Electronics reportedly showcased a double-edge-curved display clad handset to a few selected people at the CES 2015 event. For some years now, the LG G Flex lineup has boasted flexible devices, but LG is yet to release a device with edge display.

A report in Phandroid stated that LG may be expecting to produce Edge variants since the South Korean tech giant supposedly filed trademarks for eight names recently. All these variants have the term "Edge" appended to their names. These names include "Super Edge," "Dual Edge," "Upper Edge," "Dual Side Edge," "Side Edge," "Double Edge," "Two Edge" and "G Edge."

On the other hand, Phone Arena claimed that it is very likely that LG may be working on a dual-edge variant, something akin to the Galaxy S6 Edge. Hence, the trademarked names "Dual Edge", "Dual Side Edge", "Double Edge" and "Two Edge" seem to be reasonable. The report further states that the name "Upper Edge" could suggest that the bezels wrapping will be the top of the smartphone, rather that at the sides.

While LG Electronics is yet to confirm any of these reports or reveal anything regarding its future plans related to the purported handset, Phone Arena reported that the company may possibly make an announcement in this regard sometime in late-2016 or even later.
