LG Band Play News: LG Electronics Unveils New Smartphone with 1W Speakers for Domestic Market

South Korean tech titan LG Electronics has just unveiled a mid-range Android smartphone called Band Play. The new device comes with 1W speakers and aims to deliver superior sound quality.

A report in IB Times states that Band Play, running on Lollipop 5.1, will hit the stores in South Korea within a month. A press release issued by the company on Wednesday said that the device has been priced at 394,800 won (roughly $360).

In terms of specs and features, the LG Band Play sports a 13 megapixel primary camera on its rear side with laser auto focus alongside a wide-angle 5 megapixel front-facing selfie camera. The device comes with a 5-inch screen rendering 1280x720 pixel display and is powered by a Qualcomm 410 quad-core processor. Band Play is equipped with a modest 2,300mAh removable battery unit and come with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, which is expandable via a microSD card.

The new phone supports 4G LTE. In addition, the LG Band Play boasts a "focus mode" that shuts off WiFi and other functions, while sending an automatic reject message on incoming calls.

As of now, LG has not announced the official launch date of the new phone in its domestic market. In addition, it has not confirmed whether or not the Band Play will be made available in markets outside South Korea in the near future.

The LG press release claimed that Band Play is expected to offer the same kind of user experience found on the company's flagship G-series phones.
