Legendary Vocalist John Schlitt Takes Music To Norway

Continuing to take his ministry around the globe, Grammy and Dove winner John Schlitt recently returned from Norway after performing in concert throughout the country. The legendary vocalist currently is touring in support of his CD, The Greater Cause.

"My recent trip to Norway was very satisfying," Schlitt says. "To see the amazing response to the new acoustic set was great! I love that the people of Scandinavia always seem to be open to new things. I was also blessed to have many people ask me about my new Kickstarter project. They say they are excited about me recording a Christmas album, and I am, too!"

The Norwegian tour comes at a time when Schlitt is looking towards his next recording project. With plans of going into the studio in late June, the singer has once again partnered with his fans for his newest musical project, an as-yet untitled Christmas CD through Kickstarter, a popular "crowd-funding" platform for creative projects. Schlitt used this platform to fund The Greater Cause.

Schlitt, who has never recorded any Christmas music, neither during his 20-year stint as the lead singer with Petra nor as a solo artist, says he has been feeling "a very strong tug" to make this seasonal record.

The majority of the CD, according to Schlitt, will consist of traditional Christmas songs done "John Schlitt style." He also plans to include several praise and worship songs. "My desire is that it will be a double-whammy type of Christmas album that will be very different"”and very special," he says.

More than 250 partners have already pledged more than 70 percent toward Schlitt's $35,000 goal. The deadline for pledges is June 8.

Due to popular demand, Schlitt recently has added a new Kickstarter reward. At the $80 pledge level, backers will receive a box of items"”including homemade cookies, a handmade ornament and the new CD"”made at the hand of Schlitt himself.

"This reward puts me in the kitchen baking cookies, in the shop making an ornament and in the studio making a CD," Schlitt says.
