'Left Behind' 2014 Movie News: Producer Promises Post-Rapture Film Will Be 'Bigger and Better' than Kirk Cameron's Version (NEW TRAILER)

'Left Behind' producer and writer Paul Lalonde revealed in an interview why he believes his new film will be better than the original movie, which starred 'Growing Pains' and 'Way of the Master' actor Kirk Cameron in 2000.

"The reason to bring 'Left Behind' back is [two-fold]: one is to make it bigger and better, so that we can have a broader reach and a shot at a broader audience," said Lalonde to The Blaze in April, "The first time we did it was a straight to DVD production."

A new trailer for the upcoming movie was recently released showing how the world would react in the event of the Rapture.

The Rapture is once-in-a-lifetime event when Jesus Christ resurrects His dead followers and saves living Christians from impending doom in the Tribulation period.

The Tribulation era described in the Bible takes place during the end times (aka end of age) period, years prior to Christ's second coming to Earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

"A small group of survivors are left behind after millions of people suddenly vanish and the world is plunged into chaos and destruction," according to the movie's official summary located on its IMDB page.

Lalonde explains what the viewers can expect to see on the big screen and what happens to the people on Earth who did not want to be raptured by Christ, due to a lack of faith in the one and true Messiah.

"I think a lot of the core Christian audience, I think they're going to be surprised at the clarity with which we presented the rapture," said Lalonde, "I think people are expecting it to be completely buried and barely mentioned."

'Left Behind' stars Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray, Nicky Whelan Cassi Thomson, Jordin Sparks and Lea Thompson, it will arrive in theaters on October 3rd, 2014.
