LeBron James, Carmello Anthony Lakers Trade Rumors / King James Leaving Miami After 2014 Season for L.A.?
Are the Los Angeles Lakers thinking about pursuing LeBron James and/or Carmello Anthony in the 2014 off-season? After Dwight Howard took his talents to Houston, the Lakers are reportedly interested in trying their hand at signing two of the best shooters in the NBA.
Both James and Anthony can opt out of their contracts after the 2013-2014 season. Though James has an additional 2 years of player options, he can decide if he wants to be a Heat player at the end of next season. James and the Heat are going for their third consecutive championship, coming off back-to-back titles the last two years.
Is it championship of bust for the Heat. Will LeBron James leave for the West Coast if the Heat team, that barely escaped last year's finals against the Spurs, can't earn the three-peat?
If rumors are true, do the Lakers even care about the upcoming 2013-2014 season? Besides Steve Nash's $9.7 million guaranteed [and Robert Sacre's less than $1 million], the Lakers won't owe any guaranteed money going into LeBron and Carmello's contract years.
And what about Kobe Bryant? His contract is over after next season. Despite earlier predictions, Bryant now says he wants to play a few more years. Will the Lakers veteran take a pay cut to open up space for LeBron and/or Carmello Anthony?
"Nah," Kobe told a Lakers fan site at his basketball camp in Santa Barbara. "I'm going to try to get as much as I possibly can."
The fact that we're even talking about these players a full season before their contracts expire is mind-boggling.
What do you think about seeing LeBron James and/or Carmello Anthony in a Lakers uniform?
