League of Legends Update: Overhaul for Summoner's Rift Release Date

Top eSport game League of Legends is set to undergo major changes to it's iconic 5v5 map, Summoner's Rift.

More than 27 million people play the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game League of Legends on a daily basis. Riot Games, its developer, offered the free to download and play client on October 27, 2009. Many changes have been made to the game since its release, but one of the largest yet is the graphical overhaul on it's most popular map or level Summer's Rift.

As LoL competes with Dota 2 for the number one spot as the best MOBA style game available, the differences in graphical engines is no close call.

While some appreciate the distinct artistic style of the League of Legends universe, it is obvious that the Dota 2 world is more aestetically detailed and advanced. For this reason, Riot Games has been working on improving the graphics to match those or even supersede its competitors.

While most fans and players are delighted to see changes to their favorite game, some are concerned about what this could entail.

Players are worried that new textures and terrain modification will effect mechanics and champion finesse, something the game is widely known and praised for. Others rest uneasy about the potential requirements on their computer's hardware to run the updated models and sprites.

Riot Games has considered these potential problems and has reassured the public. Since development for these upcoming changes is still in the works, RG will focus on optimization, to ensure most hardware can support the client. They've made mention that more stress would reside upon the computer's RAM instead of the GPU.

So, unless your computer has traversed through the Y2K scare back in 1999, you should be fine.
