League of Legends 2 Rumors, Latest News: Developers Will Never Make Sequel

It has been five years since the release of Riot Games' super popular, free to play MOBA style game, League of Legends. Fans are beginning to wonder whether the company will develop a sequel to the game due to the original's impressive following.

Riot Games will never make a League of Legends 2.

Brent Critchfield told Polygon, "I want my great grand-children playing this game," who is a senior environment artist with the company. Riot's intentions are to frequently and consistently update the current League of Legends game with new game modes, maps, champions, and much more. With almost 27 million players daily, and 7.5 million concurrent users during peak hours, the demand for change is warranted.

Part of the reason why Riot Games is able to provide so much attention to LoL, is its successful record for producing profit for the company. WSJ reported that the game contributed over $624 million dollars in revenue in 2013. The developers feel there is much potential left in their game to persist and last for many more years to come. Maybe Critchfield's grand-children will be able to play the game after all.

It has been reported that Riot Games plans to endeavor in other games, but has not released word of any new titles they plan to develop.
