Here's the synopsis for tonight's double episode premiere "Surrender Benson" and "Imprisoned Lives"

In the 15th-season opener, Benson is held captive and the squad take extreme measures to find her and her abductor, but they worry they might be out of time.

A child abandoned in Times Square leads police to a basement full of kidnapping victims, which prompts the reopening of several cold cases.

According to Law & Order: SVU showrunner Warren Leight, Season 15 picks up right where the Season 14 finale left off, with serial rapist William Lewis still in control of Olivia.

"At various points, he's drugging her and he's pouring alcohol down her mouth. He's torturing her psychologically and physically," Leight says. "It takes her a long while to accept the fact that this is happening to her. She bargains with him, she gets angry with him. She has to really go through a lot."

According to Leight every cast member wanted to be the one to save Olivia from the torture. Instead Leight wants to drag out the trauma a little longer.

"Our squad is frustrated and desperately trying to get to her. [Every actor on the show] really either wanted to be the one to save her or they wanted to do more. I said, 'That's the problem here; I want you to play the frustration you're feeling, the anger you're feeling for me.'"
