'Last Of Us' Movie Rumors: Sony Confirms New Video Game Film, 'Game of Thrones' Arya to Play Ellie?

'Last of Us', the hit action-adventure-horror Playstation game, developed by Naughty Dog, is set to have a movie adaptation as confirmed by entertainment giant Sony.

What appears to be the first poster for the upcoming survival-horror film was first posted on the Japanese company's official Twitter account. The image, however, only revealed a female character wearing a backpack, with a knife in her hand. The character is presumed to be Ellie, the lead role in the blockbuster videogame.

Recent reports stated that 'Evil Dead' and 'Spiderman Trilogy' film director Sam Raimi and writer Neil Druckman will be heading the 'Last Of Us' film adaptation as announced in the 2014 International Comic-Con. The highly anticipated film is expected to premiere some time in 2016. However, there was no official confirmation by Sony on who the cast will be for the upcoming film.

Rumors claim that the famous 'Game of Thrones' star Maisie Williams will be taking on the lead role of Ellie in the survival film. 17-year-old Williams is famous for her role in the HBO hit series as Arya Stark, the brave survivor of the Northern rulers of the Seven Kingdom.

There is no news so far of who will be taking on the role of 'Last of Us' game star Joel, although actor Bruce Campbell has allegedly been tapped to play the said character.

The award-winning 'Last of Us' game first debuted in 2013 for the Sony Playstation 3. It was published by Sony Computer Entertainment through collaboration with game developer Naughty Dog.
