LA Lakers NBA News, Rumors: Eric Bledsoe Trade Doubtful As Qualifying Deadline Draws Close

If the latest reports are to be believed, it is unlikely that Los Angeles Lakers will be able to trade for Eric Bledsoe, the Phoenix Suns' point guard, as the deadline for the qualifying offer is drawing close.

In all likelihood, Suns may offer a much bigger contract to Bledsoe which may coax the point guard into remaining with the team for many more years to come. This will also end LA Laker's pursuit to acquire Bledsoe as a free agent by July 2015.

According to Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors, Bledsoe will be signing a new contract prior to Oct. 1 which would make him an unrestricted free agent for Phoenix.

Myron said, "(The negotiations are) all going through agent Rich Paul. I know LeBron (James) implored the Suns to 'break bread,' but since LeBron is Paul's client, it came off as a PR stunt. I think Phoenix would like to negotiate, and I think they'd come up at least a little from four years and $48 million. I think the Suns and Paul will revisit the issue and strike an 11th hour deal for the long-term, but that's more of a hunch than anything else."

Currently, the Los Angeles Lakers team has Kobe Bryant, Nick Young, and Xavier Henry and it appears that they are continuing their pursuit for more options at the 3-spot.

In case neither Eric Bledsoe nor the already reported Michael Beasley signs up with the LA team, the Lakers may decide on Alonzo Gee of the Houston Rockets, who is soon expected to be a free agent. Headlines & Global News also reported that in this case the Lakers may also opt for Boston Celtics' point guard Rajon Rondo.
