Kurt Angle WWE Return 2014 News: Rumors of Christian Olympic Gold Medalist Rejoining Company After 8 Year Hiatus (VIDEO)

In latest WWE news, former WWE Champion Kurt Angle is rumored to be returning to the sports entertainment company after spending the past eight years with TNA Impact Wrestling.

"Angle is trying to pitch WWE on a deal that would be similar to the schedule Michaels did in his final years with the company, where he worked big shows and limited dates. As best we can tell, WWE hasn't shown much interest. As noted before, in the past, Vince McMahon was extremely negative on the idea of bringing Angle back," said Dave Meltzer on his radio show 'Wrestling Observer Newsletter'.

Meltzer further explained why McMahon might not resign the 6-time World Champion (in the WWE) from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

"Angle has struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for years, so much so that it has led to multiple arrests and stints in rehab. McMahon's anxieties about re-signing Angle exist due to his past struggles, where McMahon is terrified about having an Olympic gold medalist do something tragic to himself or someone else while under contract and representing the WWE banner," he said

The 45-year-old wrestling legend recently addressed the rumors of him potentially returning to the company where he wrestled from 1999-2006.

"I am interested in talking with WWE," said Angle to former WWE HOF Jim Ross (aka JR) on the 'Ross Report' last month, "I do want to know what they have to say. I always said that I would finish off my career there, but I just don't know right now."

In the same interview, he talked about whether his past drug abuse would be a problem if he rejoined WWE.

"Not at this point. A year ago? Yes," said Angle, "There isn't a physical that I won't pass."

Angle credits his Christian faith for allowing him to overcome a severe drugs and alcohol addiction, "I've always been a Christian, I believe in God, but at the same time, I've done a lot of good things and a lot of bad things." said Angle in the 'MyComeback 12 - FAITH' Youtube video.

"...I got re-introduced to my faith when I went to rehab to get off the pain meds and alcohol, and the whole aspect of rehabilitation is that you put God first...The number aspect in my comeback is my faith. As long as I stay true to my faith, I will get there," he added.

Angle's current contract with TNA is scheduled to expire this September.
