Twilight sweethearts, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, might be completely over each other after the scandalous affair involving Stewart and British director Rupert Sanders. The incident led to the Twilight couple breaking up in 2012, and things since then have seemingly been awkward between the pair. But things are about to get a whole lot worse as the pair will reunite at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Cannes Film Festival reunion is scheduled towards the end of the month, and a source to The Hollywood Gossip has claimed that Stewart is dreading the thought of seeing her ex-boyfriend, giving an indication of how awkward things have become between the pair. 

An anonymous source told Now magazine that Twilight's Bella Swan is nervous of possibly having a face to face with her ex-boyfriend, Pattinson, at the Cannes Festival happening on May 14 to 25.  Sugarscape.com reports that the 24-year-old actress is dreading what she would do when they meet.

"Awkward is an understatement. Kristen hates confrontation, so seeing Rob will be strange for both of them.  They have a lot of history together. Feelings don't disappear overnight," a source has told Now magazine.

Pattinson, 27, broke up with his then girlfriend after her a cheating affair with director Rupert Sanders. 

A HollywoodLife.com source, who is believed to be one of Pattinson's close friends, said that it was Stewart's fear of intimacy and insecurity that perhaps prompted her to cheat. 

"Rob is well aware of why Kristen cheated on him. He understands that it wasn't because of a lack of love. It was more so a fear of intimacy on Kristen's part. Everyone takes on different experiences from their upbringings," quotes Hollywood Life.

Pattinson stars in two films at Cannes, The Rover and Maps to the Stars, while Stewart takes a supporting role in Clouds of Sils Maria.
