After their highly publicized affair, Kirsten Stewart (formerly dating Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson), publicly renounced her decision to become involved with director and married father of two, Rupert Sanders. She reportedly said that the affair was "embarrassing," however, according to some new rumors the director and recent divorcee may still be holding out some hopes that their short-lived romance can be rekindled.

Although both parties involved have given statements to the effect that they regretted wounding their loved ones with the affair, Rupert Sanders and Kirsten Stewart have reportedly kept in touch, and, according to one source, Sanders is still holding out for the possibility that they have a future together.

The source reported to Radar Online: "He's finding it difficult to shake... Rupert, against all better judgment, still holds out hope that he and Kristen can get things going again. But he's completely deluded; she would never put her career on the line like that again."  

Meanwhile, there may be some indication that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are themselves headed towards one day becoming an item again.

Rumors have the former co-stars exchanging Valentine's Day acknowledgments, Pattinson sending her flowers and Stewart sending some candid photos of her with their shared animals.

An unidentified source close to Kirsten has even told Hollywood Life: "They both are still crazy about each other. Kristen has been telling all of their mutual friends that she's over Rob and ready to move on, but it's not true. She knows it will get back to Rob, and it is all part of her plan to get him back."
