'Kingsman: The Secret Service' News: Director Confirms He'll Be Back For Sequel

It is safe to say that the release of Matthew Vaughn's 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' was received very well by critics, and the stylish spy thriller left fans awaiting another speedy sequel.

While this has been announced, it wasn't confirmed until now that the sequel would be helmed by the same director that was behind the first one.

Vaughn stated in a recent interview with Yahoo that he was closely bonded with the franchise and characters, and that he couldn't see himself leaving it. He explains:

"Well, the good news is that I'm writing [the sequel] next door at the moment. If I think I can get the script good enough, then we are making it...We are doing our damndest to make that happen."

"I'm in love with these characters and I want to work with them again so I'll probably be breaking the rule of [me] tending not to make sequels."

This is great news for those that enjoyed the style of the original. While most principles of the movie is expected to stay the same, Vaughn stated in a previous interview that American Kingsmen would be introduced.

"Eggsy will be taking on a whole new way," Vaughn says in an interview with Moviefone. "But it's up to the audience. If they go see it and want another one, I would absolutely love to do it. We had so much fun making this movie. And you wouldn't believe what we've got in store. Poor Mark Strong will be going on a journey that he never imagined. And we've got this idea to introduce the world to the American branch of the Kingsman."

Along with this exciting news, fans can also expect actor Colin Firth to be back in his iconic role. In an interview with USA Today, Vaughn stated:

"A lot of people are very upset that Colin might not be in the sequel but I'm coming up with ideas at the moment. If people buy tickets in America, I've got a feeling we'll figure out a way for having Colin back."

"The sequel will be 'This is the modern-day gentleman spy.' Because Harry isn't. Harry even says, 'There is a reason why we've developed weak chins.' He said that meaning, 'Look at us, we need to get new blood into this system,' and that's what Eggsy is. I joke that we've made the prequel to the Eggsy movie."

There is currently no scheduled release date on 'Kingsman 2.'
