Kinect V2 Standalone Release Date Sale: Deal on Microsoft Device - $200 Price Tag Starting July 15

Starting July 15, Microsoft fans can get a hold of Kinect V2 at $200, half the price of $400 Xbox One. Microsoft will be putting out Kinect devices as a standalone gadget, but in order to use one with an Xbox One, the console and sensor device need to be purchased in a bundle.

Kinect V2's separation from Xbox One does not make it any less impressive, but critics are concerned that this is not the best deal Microsoft can offer to its loyal consumers. Kinect Version 1, which as of now, is three-years-old, has been successful not only in the gaming field, but also in areas like medicine and robotics.

According to Microsoft's product description, Kinect V2 is a productivity tool that allows users to experiment with the sensor's functionality. It is also expected that given access to broader range of apps, developers will discover much of the device's future potential.

Unfortunately, Kinect V2 will not be shipped with any application software, and that Kinect Windows SDK 2.0 must be purchased separately. Time magazine commented that shedding $200 for an external might be a little costly, but when used for various purposes, it could be worth it.
