The tablet opens up Indian users to popular apps and services like FaceBook, Angry Birds, and Temple Run, while working with Indian developers to provide products and services that are native to India and are developed and designed locally.

Kindle Fire HD will be available from the Amazon website, at www.amazon.in/kindle and from several local retailers like Croma, E-Zone, and Vijay Sales locations in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, and many, many more.

Dave Limp, the VP of Amazon Kindle was quoted as saying that the "Kindle Fire feature advanced hardware, it's also a service. The combination of the leading apps, the largest book selection, great email and browsing and top rated customer service, we hope our customers in India will agree that Kindle Fire HD is the best tablet for a great price."
