Kindle DX Comes Back with Free 3G, Full QWERTY Keyboard, and a New Price Point: $299

The Kindle DX was thought to be long-gone. With a recent resurrection by Amazon, this seems to not be the case.

The Kindle namebrand has been caught up in the "tablet" wars for quite some time now, or at least ever since the release of the Apple iPad and other tablets like it. The DX was no longer enough, though Amazon. Tablets now needed to do more than just read. They need to be able to check email, surf the web, and run third party applications. There was no room in this new landscape for a tablet that was just an e-reader.

But, Amazon seems to have changed their tune, bringing back the large, 9.7" Kindle DX for $299. "Kindle DX is again avilable on Amazon.com" said an Amazon spokesperson in an officially released statement. "Our website lists the most up to date availability for all products. We're excited to offer customers this option."

This is the first that we've seen of a Kindle DX in quite some time. It made its initial debut in 2009, but size and price hindered the product from ever truly exploding in the market.

Measuring in at 10.4 by 7.2 by 0.38 inches, the Kindle DX boasts a QWERTY keyboard, and offers free 3G network access. It has 4GB of storage, which Amazon says is enough for up to 3,500 books, periodicals, and documents.
