Kim Soo Hyun of ‘My Love From the Stars’ Thanked By Actress Jun Ji Hyun for Baeksang Arts Award 2014
Korean drama princess Jun Ji Hyun could not help but be emotional when she received the grand prize for the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards for her role in My Love From the Stars.
The 32-year-old actress said she was not expecting to be given the Daesang. She extended her gratitude to co-star Kim Soo Hyun and all the casts and crew that made their film a success.
The Daesang is the highest appreciation an artist can recieve from the award-giving body.
Ji Hyun said that she was only hoping for a Best Actress Award but was elated to find that she had received more than expected.
"I feel as if the public really responded to my heartfelt efforts with this award," she said in her speech as she began crying.
It was her first Baeksang recognition in 15 years after her rookie award for her role in White Valentine (1999). Jin Hyun and Soo Hyun made a memorable friendship during their stints in My Love From the Stars where the actress' character fell in love with an alien named Do Min Joon.
"Mr. Do Min Joon, thanks for not returning to the stars and staying with me. I sincerely thank you. Let's do another one soon," she said on stage.
Similarly, Soo Hyun also thanked the fans that constantly supported him throughout his projects. The 26-year-old Korean superstar won the Most Popular Actor in a Drama award. He is hailed as "Best Rookie Male Actor" for his Secretly, Greatly.
