Kim Jong Un Executes Uncle and Ex Girlfriend: Second Highest Ranking Official in North Korea Killed by Nephew [Photo]

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un recently had his uncle executed for being a "traitor." The man, named Jang, formerly held the position as the second highest ranking official in North Korea. This execution came on the tail end of Kim Jong Un's highly publicized execution of his ex girlfriend, who some say came at the behest of his current wife.

Experts are taken aback by the massive publicity surrounding the execution of Kim Jon Un's uncle and ex girlfriend. Tong Kim, a North Korea expert from Korea University at Seoul in South Korea, says, "His father and grandfather got rid of a lot of people, but did it in a very quiet manner, not making big news of it. No one can be sure what this young leader may do, but his priority must be stabilizing the domestic political situation. That leaves little room for the North Korean leader to consider military provocations in the West Sea or another nuclear test, at least for now."

Right now, no one is exactly sure what the execution of Kim Jong Un's uncle and ex girlfriend means for Western civilization. North Korea is still aligned with China, but many experts think that North Korea will betray China in the near future. David Straub, director of the Korean Studies Program at Stanford University, says, "Sooner or later there will be a dramatic dis-juncture in North Korea - whether it's for the better or worse, time will tell. But that kind of regime cannot stay, it is strong but very brittle."
