Killzone Shadow Fall Multiplayer Expansion Pack The Insurgent Launches in April; Features New Abilities, Talents, and Weapons

Killzone: Shadow Fall will be getting its first multiplayer expansion pack in April for $9.99 when Guerilla Games adds a number of new features to the game.

Guerilla Games announced the Insurgent Pack yesterday, and will add two "special talents" to the game, Steal and Hack.

"The insurgent starts with just a pistol and his wits about him. As vulnerable as he is, he can slowly build up his arsenal in the game by using [Steal] to steal weapons and abilities from downed enemies, which enables him to use those weapons throughout the game, even if he falls in combat. By Using [Hack] he can change enemy ground automata into friendlies, turning the tide of battle quite swiftly," read the blog post on PlayStation's site.

There will also be three new abilities in the pack, The Scout, Support, and Assault as well as three new weapons, M82, L512 SMG Pistol, and Sta14 Rifle. There will be a single player Elite Mode, new online Collectibles Mode, an Insurgent Personalization Pack, and new challenges and trophies, the blog posted.

Two of the new maps are The Cruiser and The Hangar. Further details on them can be seen here.

Killzone: Shadow Fall's multiplayer is currently free this week for a trial period in March.

Guerrilla Games made the announcement last week, and will occur right before the launch of the first map pack on March 4. On March 3 at 8 p.m. ET, owners of the PS4 were able to download Shadow Fall from the PlayStation Store.

"To celebrate the imminent release of our first Free Map DLC on March 4th, we are making the acclaimed KILLZONE SHADOW FALL multiplayer available for FREE to all Playstation® 4 players for a week, starting 3rd of March 5PM PST. Best of all, you will not require PS PLUS to play the Free Access client this week!" wrote Killzone on their blog.

Important to note is that the single player version will not be on trial unless the gamer already owns the game.

"For this free multiplayer access week, we are prepping special Warzones for you to play the just the new maps, and compete on global leaderboards for Capture and Team Deathmatch game modes. All clans, including trial players, will be eligible for prizes in the Clan Community Challenge," wrote Killzone on their blog. "There will be Warzones for those that enjoy the up close and personal touch of smaller skirmishes as well as those of you who want the epic scale of 24 player games. Additionally, our top players will be streaming Clan Battles; you can find the link to the streams in-game."

Killzone is currently a PlayStation exclusive.
