The Killers as the band everyone knows them might be coming to a close, or at least a hiatus in the near future.
The "Mr. Brightside" band is releasing a greatest hits album called Direct Hits on November 11th. The record will feature two new tracks from the band called "Just Another Girl" and "Shot At The Night".
Guitarist Dave Keuning spoke recently with NME about life on the road and admitted, "I am sick of this. I'm done. The end is in sight. Some people might go, 'Why are you complaining?' But you haven't done what I have done, so you can't relate. We just toured a sh**load."
On top of Keuning's feelings, bass player Mark Stoermer has missed their recent Asian tour dates due to 'personal reasons'. Singer Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vanucci had this to say on Stoermer's absence from the band's Asian gigs. Vanucci shared, "I don't want to blow the top on it. Being part of this machine is physical and mentally exhausting." Asked if the band would carry on if Stoermer quit, he adds: "I'd hope we'd keep trucking on. But at the same time, it isn't the same band."
Frontman Flowers has revealed that he will be working on a solo album in 2014 with the hopes of a 2015 release date.
Will The Killers ever release a new studio album again? We will have to see. Sometimes bands just need a break from their rigorous schedule. Kings of Leon looked done a few years ago when they went on an indefinite hiatus, but have come back stronger then ever. We will see what happens with The Killers in the coming years.
