Kevin Durant's New Nickname is 'The Servant' Because He Wants to Serve others Around Him, Said 'The Slim Reaper' was a 'Little too Dark for Me'
Kevin Durant, star forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, wants his new nickname to change to "The Servant" instead of his previous moniker of "Slim Reaper."
When asked about The Slim Reaper nickname, Durant said, "You can call me, 'The Servant,'" to Grantland in a video interview.
"I'm here to shine a bright light," Durant said previously in an interview with The Oklahoman's Darnell Mayberry. "I'm not here to be a guy of, I guess, death. I just like KD better," he said referring to liking his KD nickname better.
In the video, Durant continued to be pressed about what the meaning of "The Servant" was.
"I just like to serve everybody. My teammates, ushers at the game, fans," Durant continued to Grantland. "I thought of that last night."
"I seen the picture," Durant said of the Slim Reaper nickname. "It was pretty cool, but it looked a little too dark for me."

Previously a video of Durant making halftime comments about Jesus went viral, due to the reporter laughing him off a bit.
Doris Burke asked Durant what he would say goes into a streak that led to the Thunders' twelve game winning streak. Wednesday night marked the 12th consecutive game in which Durant scored more than 30 points.
"Thank God, that's all I can say. Jesus Christ," Durant said.
Burke the laughed, and replied, "You didn't have nothing to do with it?"
"No. It's all Him," Durant said.
