Kevin Durant Interview with Carl Lentz (Hillsong NYC) & Craig Groeschel (Lifechurch.tv), Watch Here (VIDEO)

Kevin Durant, the All-Star forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, stopped by Lifechurch.tv in Oklahoma City recently to speak with pastor Craig Groeschel. Also joining them was Carl Lentz, who is the pastor of Hillsong Church in New York City and a close personal friend and mentor to Durant.

The three men sit down for an extended interview discussing how they are growing spiritually and sharing stories about their faith journey.

Craig asked Kevin what he wants to be known for besides basketball and Kevin insightfully shares, "I want to be known for serving people. When people see me, they think I deserve something. I don't deserve anything. I don't deserve to be put in the front of the line at the movies or get a free meal, I don't deserve anything. I think for me, I just wanna go up to people and impact their lives. Whether it's from me inspiring them from playing basketball or just going up and asking them how their family is doing, that's what I want to be known as." Durant continues, "Also, a legacy changer. I didn't grow up with my dad in the household and one of my main goals in life is to become a great dad, somebody that their kids can wake up to everyday and be a great husband. So hopefully I can accomplish those goals."

Kevin Durant played college basketball for one year at the University of Texas and won the Naismith College Player of the Year. He was then drafted to the Seattle Supersonics in 2007. After one year, the team moved to Oklahoma City and now make it their permanent home. He has won multiple NBA scoring titles and led the Oklahoma City Thunder to the NBA Finals for the 2011-2012 season where they lost to the Miami Heat.

Carl Lentz is the pastor of Hillsong NYC, the Manhattan-based church, which meets at Irving Plaza near Union Square, kicked-off their weekly services on Feb. 13, 2011 following it's official launch on Oct. 17, 2010.  They are now running over 5 services which usually result in standing room only.  The church sometimes meets in the Gramercy Theatre and other different locations  for their services which helps bring home the point constantly to the people that the church is about the community and people of the church, not a building to meet in.

Lentz is a regular at New York Knicks games and as become close personal friends with Knicks center Tyson Chandler and many others on the team.  Chandler is very involved in the community as well and he and Lentz do a lot of events together.  Being close with the Knicks team has helped his platform grow even more and has even been seen sharing the book "Jesus Is ____" by Judah Smith with players among others.  Smith is the popular pastor of The City Church in the Seatle,WA area and is also a close personal friend of Lentz.
