Kent Brantly Condition Latest News: 14-Year-Old Ebola Survivor Donates Blood to Doctor
Recovering and receiving the best medical treatment available, Dr, Kent Brantly's condition is on its way to a full recovery. The doctor is said to be getting stronger everyday as he undergoes several medical procedures to ensure that the virus is out of his system.
Dr. Kent Brantly contracted the Ebola virus while he was in Liberia, where he lives with his wife and two children. He was responding to an Ebola crisis in Liberia along with the rest of his medical team when he contracted the deadly virus. When they found out that he was infected, a medical evacuation plane with a special containment unit was provided to fly him (and his family) to the U.S to get the appropriate medical treatment as soon as possible.
Dr. Brantly is currently under the care of Emory University Hospital, which are getting support from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in treating him at a special unit within the hospital. CDC focuses on treating patients who are exposed to infectious diseases.
Dr. Brantly and his wife, Amber, praise the medical specialists that are doing the best they can to ensure the doctor's full recovery. Amber also shared that she gets to see her husband on a daily basis with the help of the Emory University Hospital's medical team (headed Dr. Bruce Ribner). The Dr. Brantly may be in an isolated state right now, but the medical team finds ways for him to communicate with his family.
It is reported that the noble doctor received a unit of blood from an Ebola survivor. The 14-year old boy who donated the unit of blood said that it's his way of giving back to Dr. Brantly for reaching out to people like him. He added that he owes his Ebola survival to Dr. Brantly and it's time for him to return the favor.
