Kellie Pickler’s Drummer Seriously Injured in Car Crash, Asking Fans to Pray
The drummer for country music star Kellie Pickler's backing band was critically injured in a car accident on I-65 in Kentucky on Saturday. Gregg Lohman suffered head and neck injuries so severe he had to be airlifted from the crash site. Though stable, Lohman is still in critical condition.
Kellie Pickler went to Facebook on Sunday to address the issue, and offer her support to Lohman.
"Yesterday, my drummer Gregg Lohman was in a horrific car accident and is currently in ICU," commented the season five American Idol finalist.
"Gregg is not just my drummer, he is family. I believe in miracles and the power of prayer, so it would mean the world to me, my band, and Gregg's family if you would please keep him in your prayers. Thank y'all so much."
According to Master Trooper Norman Chaffins of Kentucky State Police, Lohman was slowing down for an earlier crash on the same interstate. Not noticing Lohman's reduced speed, the driver behind crashed into the back of his truck. The initial hit to Lohman triggered a series of rear-end collisions with the cars ahead of him.
In the first crash that Lohman was slowing down for, six members of the same family were killed, according to CNN affiliate WAVE.
Two other drivers were injured in the second crash but were released the same day.
Lohman, 36, has also worked the sticks with several other massive country acts like SHeDaisy and Lady Antebellum, and also teaches percussion at Tennessee State University.
