Katy Perry New Album 'Prism' Release Date, Calling John Mayer a "Broken Bird" and Her Role in Smurfs 2

Katy Perry has been keeping busy working on several projects while defending herself and her love life that has been all over the gossip news.

Perry spoke with the U.K. edition of Elle Magazine and admitted that she seems to be attracted to "challenging" men.

"The men I have gone for are challenging, yes, but they're also wildly intelligent and poetic," she added. "I'm not interested in taming anyone -- I'm pretty wild myself."

The "California Girls" singer called on-again-off-again boyfriend John Mayer is a "broken bird" but confessed that she remained "madly in love with him."

"He pulled away," Perry told Elle about John Mayer. "That was a big hello for me. I realized I could lose the person I loved and I had to deal with some things, issues I think a lot of women have."

"You can be strong in one aspect of your life but submissive in another. In relationships, it was hard for me to speak up and set boundaries. I think that a lot of that has to do with the fear of loss."

Perry has been able to channel her emotions into her new album Prism which releases on  Oct. 22nd. This will be Perry's third full length album.

She has also been involved with the upcoming movie Smurfs 2, playing the voice of Smurfette.

Smurfs 2 hit theaters last night (July 31st).
