Katy Perry 'Dark Horse' Song Lawsuit: Christian Singers Accuse Songstress of Stealing Song
Flame, a well known Christian rap group feels that its image has been considerably tarnished by American pop star Katy Perry with her new song "Dark Horse." The group has recently filed a lawsuit against the songstress.
The song "Dark Horse" is supposedly too similar to music made by the rap group Flame. This may not have been much of a big deal it if wasn't for the messages tied to the "Dark Horse" song and music video. Images used in the video of the song include Illuminati signs, pagan elements, and witchcraft symbols, all of which go against the essential Christian image and spirit. While there has been no protest so far from religious communities around the globe, it seems like Katy may now have a tough battle on her hands.
According to sources the rap group is going to make use of audio comparison devices in order to prove their case in court. The song by Flame goes at seventy six beats a minute while that of Perry's goes at about sixty four to sixty six beats per minute. It therefore becomes rather difficult to distinguish between the two songs immediately.
It is in Michigan that the lawsuit has been filed and Perry has not responded to it as of yet. To win this case might prove to be an uphill battle for her as Flame has a considerable fan following and cannot be easily brushed aside in court when filing a plagiarism case against an artist.
While Christians have found little reason to complain about Perry until now, other religious groups have. For instance, many branded Katy as blasphemous when she showed herself in a music video refusing a suitor who was wearing an Allah pendant.
