Kanye West New Album 2013: Release Date, Darker Songs, Rumored Features from Daft Punk, John Legend, Skrillex & more
Kanye West is definitely working on new material for an upcoming album, but there are a few hints that are leaning towards a June release.
The most obvious, was West's tweet with the date, "June Eighteen". This could either be his album or the birth of his child with his reality star girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, who is expected to give birth in June or July, but most think she is due July.
So we will assume that he is talking about his new album, which will be his sixth full length solo record.
Here are some things that have been going down in regards to his upcoming release.
According to Rolling Stone, West has been living in Paris since at least January, recording in secret at the hotel Le Meurice (which is so deluxe it's known as "the hotel of kings") and local studios.
West flew to New York city with his girlfriend to preview the new album at Def Jam's New York offices. Evidently, sources who were in that meeting called the project even darker than 2010"²s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, even drawing comparisons to the music of industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails.
The tracklist is not finalized, but it looks like collaborations with the likes of Daft Punk, John Legend, Skrillex, 2 Chainz, Chicago's Chief Keef, and an undisclosed number of Odd Future members are in the works.
SNL (Saturday Night Live) on NBC has made Kanye West the musical guest for the season finale of May 18th, so fans can hope that he will share a new track from his upcoming album.
Kanye has done a good job of keeping things under wraps, which is hard to do these days, but as the days get closer there should be new details and maybe even a leaked sample or two coming out soon!
