Justin Bieber Searched to get Baptized During Super Bowl Weekend 'A Cleansing Ritual, with the Hillsong Church' (Video)
Justin Bieber, who recently got arrested in Miami Beach on suspicion of driving under the influence and drag racing, reportedly rummaged New York City over the weekend to find a private pool where he could be baptized through Hillsong NYC church, led by his friend Pastor Carl Lentz.
Multiple sources told the New York Post's Page Six that Bieber sought for a place to conduct the ceremony.
"Justin and his team spent time on Saturday searching for a place with a pool where they could conduct a baptism for him, a cleansing ritual, with the Hillsong Church. But they couldn't find a place in time," one person said Page Six.
The newspaper reports another source saying, "Justin is serious about his Christian faith, and after recent events, he needed to take a pause."
Unfortunately Page Six reports that the star was unsuccessful in finding a pool in time.
Bieber, was allegedly in New York City over the weekend for Maxim magazine's Super Bowl party, that happened after being held at Teterboro airport in New Jersey Friday because officials suspected the pop singer's plane was carrying marijuana, but sniffer-dogs came up empty and all aboard were released, the publication also reported.
Hillsong NYC, which was founded in 2010, holds services at the Irving Plaza concert venue and has had baptisms in the rooftop pool of the Gansevoort Hotel, as seen in a video published online.
On the churches website it states, "We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptized in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues."
The Canadian pop star's mother Pattie Mallette has publicly said that Justin became a Christian at an early age and was baptized as a child.
In 2010 Bieber said the following to the Associated Press:
"Hollywood is ... a scary place. There's a lot going on, there's a lot of bad things, but there's also a lot of good things. I'm able to live my dream, I'm able to do a lot of good things. Basically, I don't even consider religion. Like, I'm a Christian, I believe in God, I believe that Jesus died on a cross for my sins. I believe that I have a relationship and I'm able to talk to him and really, he's the reason I'm here, so I definitely have to remember that. As soon as I start forgetting, I've got to click back and be like, you know, this is why I'm here," stated Bieber
Perhaps this is Biebers attempt to "click back" following months of controversial incidents and legal battles.
