Recently, on the Playstation US blog, Aaron Kaufman announced that the highly rated 'Journey and The Unfinished Swan' title will be gracing the next-gen platform, the PS4. What's more is that the game will be free for all those who own a digital copy of the title on their PS3 consoles.

As Kaufman was answering questions in the comments section on the blog, user KM3K dropped an interesting one on the Sony representative. He asked, "Will these be cross-buy like Flower, fl0w, Sound Shapes and Escape Plan?"

To which Kaufman responded, "As a cross-buy title, once Journey is downloaded you will be able to download it for free on any other platform available through the PlayStation Network, much like how fl0w and Flower were launched for PS4," adding, "And The Unfinished Swan as well!:"

This surely had fans excited as many were not inclined to spend money on remastered version of a game that they already own.

However, it's important to note that the free version of 'Journey and The Unfinished Swan' on PS4 is only available to those who purchased the digital copy. The reason for this is that Sony has proof of purchase with digital copies, unlike retail record which are hardly even kept by the stores.

On a side note, if a player buys the PS4 version on it's release, they can go ahead and download to PS3 version if they were so inclined.

As it stands, the only official word for the release date of 'Journey and The Unfinished Swan' is that it will launch "later this year."
