John Mayer Announces 2013 Summer Tour Dates / "Mayer Is Back" on Tour with Phillip Phillips

John Mayer 2013 summer tour update!

John Mayer fans have a reason to rejoice. The Born and Raised singer will be back on stage and on tour this summer. Mayer hasn't had a major tour since being diagnosed with a rare throat condition that almost jeopardized his singing career. And that was three years ago!

Mayer's 2013 tour kicks off July 6 at Milwaukee's SummerFest [See full list of Mayer 2013 tour dates below].

Last year's American Idol winner will be opening for Mayer for most of the tour.

In this week's Billboard magazine, the singer [who recently compared himself to the Neil Young of his generation] opened up about his throat surgery, recovery and time away from the stage.

"The greatest gift I have in my life is the opportunity to play again, which is also the opportunity to dream again," he says. "My dreams were in escrow, but when I found out this thing in my throat had receded, the most exciting thing for me was having a second chance at a new life. My dreams have come true twice. That's really cool."

It seems like Mayer [who once compared former flame Jessica Simpson to "sexual nepalm"] seems to really have his head square on his shoulders. He's definitely had his share of verbal fumbles but fans are sure to be happy he's back doing what he does best.
