Joel Osteen Resigns? Hoax Says Pastor Lost His Faith / Denies 'Bible' Miniseries Controversy [VIDEO]

Joel Osteen was recently linked to reports that he had resigned and no longer remained faithful to God. Luckily for the Christian community, this was nothing more than another Internet hoax.

Major news outlets like CNN, Drudge Report and Yahoo all posted stories regarding Osteen's resignation as fact. The hoax allegedly originated from a highly suspicious WordPress blog, which reportedly belonged to Osteen. On the fake blog Osteen expressed his dissension with God and organized Christianity.

"I believe that the Bible is a fallible, flawed, highly inconsistent history book that has been altered hundreds of times," Osteen's alleged blog read. "There is zero evidence the Bible is the holy word of God. There is zero evidence 'God' even exists."

Though the Lakewood Church pastor of 14 years has not formally addressed the hoax he did post an encouraging message on his official Twitter account Monday.

"Desire the praise of God more than the praise of people."

Before the hoax, Osteen was featured on CNN discussing the controversy surrounding The Bible miniseries on History Channel. Osteen acted as a religious consultant for show and is happy with how America has responded to faith-based television.

"There are a lot of people of faith still in our country and when somebody takes a step of faith like Mark [Burnett] and [co-executive producer Roma Downey] did, people want to get behind it and see good quality, you know, production of something that's ... dear to all of our hearts, and that is the scripture and the Bible," Osteen told CNN.

Osteen also denied any resemblance between the actor who played Satan and President Barack Obama.
