Jodi Arias Death Penalty Trial Latest News: Arizona Residents ‘Had Enough Already’
The trial of Jodi Arias has been in the news headlines around the world for several months now, still without a conclusive sentence, and it seems like Arizona residents are getting tired of hearing about it.
Jody Arias' case, which was wrapped around a series of scandals and 'perversions', has been amplified into one major spectacle, said some residents of Arizona.
Arias was imprisoned last year for the alleged murder of her former boyfriend, Travis Alexander in his Mesa home back in 2008.
Meanwhile, several Arizona residents have expressed their dismay over the slow court proceedings of the Jody Arias' trial and couldn't stand the "dragging" case any longer.
"YES. 'Enough' doesn't nearly describe my utter disgust with this ongoing spectacle. To me, the worst part is dragging this out further, driven primarily by the inflated ego of the prosecutor and the County Attorney's Office," Tom Klabunde, consulting forester at Tempe stated in an interview with Arizona Central.
"There has already been a trial addressing the death-penalty issue. Accept the verdict, make a deal for life in prison and move on. Enough already! Or does the prosecutor need more face time in the media to up his book deal?," Klabunde added.
On a side note, Jodi Arias' re-trial will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 21 after Judge Sherry Stephens, the lawyers come back to the courtroom to complete the list of the jury that will foresee the case.
The potential jurors were screened beginning late September and have undergone several days of questioning from Arias' lawyer, Kirk Nurmi, as well as Maricopa County Prosecutor Juan Martinez.
Court proceedings ended last Wednesday, still without a finalized panel, although the prosecutors and lawyers have already filtered out the initial 400 jurors to a narrow selection of 175, and consequently, to a 12-person jury (plus alternates) which will aid in the development of this case.
