Joan Rivers Talks After Life and Disbelief in Heaven or Hell in Past Interview [VIDEO]

It has just been announced that 81-year-old comedienne pioneer Joan Rivers has died after being taken off of Life Support. While it is not known whether or not Rivers had a change of heart about the after life, an old TV interview provided some insight as to her thoughts before.

In an in depth interview with shrink Dr. Pamela Stephenson a couple of years ago, Rivers opened up to the Dr. about her past, her family, her betrayals and what she thought about Heaven and Hell. 32 minutes into the interview Rivers discussed her thoughts on the after life.

Rivers admitted that her mother influenced her to believe that, "Whoever has the most money sets the tone of the household."

She went on to confess, "My spending is out of control, because it gives me power also because I don't believe in the next life. I don't believe that there's a Heaven or Hell, this is it."

She supported that by saying, "Everyone is taken care of that I have to take care of, and I might as well have a great time."

In the interview she talks about a time when she was very close to suicide, because she felt so alone, but her pet saved her life.

"I literally got the gun out the whole thing and my little dog came and sat on my lap, literally and I thought, 'oh somebody loves me, I got to take care of you.' And that was a big turning point in my life," she said, "He truly saved my life"

The therapist assessed that food and spending, nurtured Rivers through her hard times.

Rivers was rushed to the hospital last Thursday after she went into cardiac arrest while undergoing a throat procedure on the Upper East Side. Doctors originally put Rivers into the coma after she went into cardiac arrest and feared that the trauma might leave her in a vegetative state or wheelchair-bound. Rivers sadly lost the battle Thursday afternoon.

Let us remember her daughter and family in our prayers through this difficult time.
