Joan Rivers Death Hoax, Rumors False: 'Fashion Police' Co-Host Alive & Well

Reports saying that Joan Rivers, popular American TV personality and co-host of 'Fashion Police', has died while undergoing surgery, are not true. While Rivers is currently at Mount Sinai hospital in New York for vocal cord surgery, she is still alive and being taken care of.

Apparently, there was a brief moment in time during a simple surgery when Rivers stopped breathing, reports say. For this reason, people began to assume the worst, and did their part in contributing to a death hoax over social media.

What actually happened was that during a procedure at a clinic, she went into cardiac arrest and was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was put into a medically-induced coma. However, she is now reported to be awake and kicking and even had funny comments to offer when asked about the whole incident, "I don't know where this came from," Rivers told The Huffington Post, "I did very well performing this weekend in Ottawa and I didn't even bomb on stage. I think this story came from Betty White -- that b**ch!"

While death hoaxes about celebrities are common and happen all the time, what's interesting is that Rivers said that something similar in this regard has happened to her once before.

During the filming of her critically acclaimed documentary 'A Piece of Work' in 2010, Rivers said she knew the producers were praying for her death. She said if she died during the filming of the documentary, they would have added value as having filmed Joan Rivers' last interview.

To the relief of many, Joan Rivers is alive and well, and will continue to appear in her WeTV reality show, 'Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?', hopefully for many more years to come.
