Jeremy Lin's Triple-Double Reignites Linsanity Craze In China, 'Behind his successes are hardships that few people know'

February 4th marks the two year anniversary of when Linsanity was born at MSG, and when the world saw the current Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin become an unlikely star in New York City with the Knicks .

The Chinese nation was proud to see Lin, the Taiwanese-American and ethnically Chinese, reserve point guard who ignited his former Knicks team to a victory with 25 points on 10 for 19 shooting, seven assists, and five rebounds against the Nets two years ago.

Now in 2014, Linsanity has cooled off considerably after he signed a three year $25.12M contract with the Houston Rockets. He is currently a bench player on the Rockets team.

"Actually, his ability is indeed limited, and not nearly as excellent as some sports commentators say," tweeted a representative Sina Weibo on Jan. 9. "Although I also hope he'll be great, his ability and strength can't compare with top players! Can't we be more objective?"

The 26-year-old player could not believe that he accomplished a tough feat as a professional basketball athlete, by completing the rare triple double a few days ago.

"It's kind of humbling to think about the whole journey and now this. It's another cool thing," said the star of the Linsanity movie to reporters after having 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in 29 minutes of play off the bench in the Rockets' 106-92 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 1.

In addition, what also made the feat even more remarkable is that he had that amazing performance coming off the bench.

"The first triple double in Lin's professional career!" tweeted Tian Zhaohui, a popular Chinese basketball expert, shortly after the game. "Congratulations! Behind his successes are hardships that few people know."
