Jeremy Lin Trade Rumors: Linsanity Likely to Stay Put at Trade Deadline Along with Omer Asik (VIDEO)
Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik have been linked in virtually every trade rumor linked with the Houston Rockets over the last nine months. Though Asik has attracted more attention as a possible player to be traded, Lin has also drawn his fair share of interest because of his position as one of the most popular athletes in the NBA.
According to Yahoo! Sports a trade involving Lin is doubtful. However, they stated in their weekly power rankings that the Rockets would not deal their sixth man Jeremy Lin because his scoring ability provides much to their franchise.
This should come as no revelation to anyone watching the Rockets this season because Lin is providing a reliable force as a sixth man who can play big minutes behind both Patrick Beverley and James Harden, as well as coming off the bench to starting games in times of injury. In addition, as the Rockets prepare for a deep run in the playoffs, they cannot risk losing Lin.
Asik's standing with the Rockets is still unknown. Spears stated that apparently the Rockets would love to trade him, but then again he too plays an essential role on this squad and could become even more important around playoff time. If the trade proposals they received in December are any hints, it seems doubtful that Asik would be leaving Houston anytime soon.
The Rockets have multiple draft picks and would definitely like to add a backup wing to the team, but for the first time in long time, they might not make any trades at the NBA Trade Deadline on Thursday 3pm ET.
